Science 10 Rube Goldberg

Rube Goldberg

Partners: Danyal, Spencer, Anthony.

Due date Tues 25 April

Our objective was to pop the balloon.

  1. the rube Goldberg starts with a person pushing down with gravitational energy a lever
  2. Lever spins and hits a car (also mechanical energy)
  3. car goes down inclined plane and stops because of (magnetic pull) and hits ball
  4. ball goes down cone and hits dominos
  5. dominos gets pushed making the energy transferred
  6. dominos hits another car and moves it with the energy
  7. car goes on another inclined plane and goes down it\

8.hits a light on the top of the car and pops a balloon producing (sound and

The energy we have in here are:

  1. Gravitational energy
  2. Mechanical energy
  3. Sound energy
  4. Elastic energy
  5. Magnetic energy

The transfers: Using the hand to push the lever and hit the car to move on to the incline plane goes down (Mechanical energy) hits the ball and gets stuck on magnetic energy due to another magnet being under the incline plane (Magnetic energy) pushes it down into a funnel (gravitational energy) Hits the dominos (a transfer of energy through the dominos) to push another car on another incline plane to pop the balloon (elastic and sound energy).

Gravitational Potential Energy: 9.8m/s x 0.66m x 0.17046kg= 1.1 J

Final Kinetic Energy:2^3.596665122026236×0.17046kg/2= 1.1 J,

Eg=1.10253528

Ek=1.10493732

0.007 Jules is lost because of the friction of the carboard and glue and when it stops and transfers between steps energy is lost. Energy is also lost when the balloon pops creating sound and heat.

Core Competences Spencer Dang English 10

Communication

I think I communicated well when working on poetry illumination assignment while working with Jered because I think that we did well because we both talked about what we wanted to do for art, music and the annotation of the poem.

Social Responsibility

I think that when i was reading books I showed great social responsibility by being kind and building relationship by considering everyone’s ideas

Critical thinking

When Annotating and analyzing poems I showed great critical thinking skills by being able make an opinion and support it well

Personal Awareness and Responsibility

when I was stressed about pressing my spoken word I self regulated and calmed down to present it pretty well

Creative Thinking

I showed great creative thinking when i was making make movie trailer poster by getting images and letter fonts that realling represented the trailer well and I also showed a creative use of photo editing software’s.

Positive Thinking

Positive Personal and Cultural Identity

Week 16 – Math 10 – System Problems

This week I learned how to turn system word problems into equations by observing specific word that translate into math’s you first start of by declaring variables in the equation like x and y and then You search for words that mean the equal sign such as equal, is, was, will, are and most verbs. Another thing to know is that some word mean that you switch numbers like “from” an example of this is 10 from a number translates to x-10, another word that switches is “than” which can be showed through the sentence 5 is less then 10 which equals 10-5 then In general you can identify basic math terms. using all of these tools you can use them to identify and form equations and solve the systems with the different ways we have learned before. For money problems the variables we use are how many of each value like dimes or worth 0.1 dollars so the variables are how many and if we had quarter too which or worth 0.25 dollars then if we know how many we have in total which for example is 30 coins we can make and equation “d+q=30” if we know how much value of the dollars we have which is 4.20 dollars we can make the equation 0.1d+0.25=4.20 then we simply solve to find out how many of each coin we have in this situation which is 22 dimes and 8 quarters.

House Trailer Poster reflection

1 sheet don’t delete pdf edition

For this project, I think that I  met all the criteria and did a majority of them right. like using the fading tool to fade in the house so that we can see the person. I also was able to make a fairly visible credit section at the bottom that included all of the members of our group and was readable. I also think that another thing I did well made the title and character pop with the yellow color. Something I could do to make it look better was to make the person’s picture fit better with the background. Something else I think I could have done to make it look better was maybe change the quote underneath the title to either be smaller or a different color so it stands out more. I also think that it would have been better if I hadn’t made a 4-page poster and sent it to get printed because it was way too big  In my opinion, I think this project was really fun because it allows me to be creative and create art to show learning instead of just always writing an essay alongside a project (which we did) but one thing I didn’t like is that we there wasn’t as much direction for it as I would have liked there to be with the photo editing software and fade tool.

Week 15 – Math 10 – solution of systems

This week I learned how use substitution to find the solution of a system to first off you should look at one of the equations and isolate the variable that has a coefficient of either 1 or -1 to make it easier then it should look something like this 2y-3=x then in the other equation substitute the same variable you isolate into it so it would look like this 2(2y-3)+3y=6 and then isolate the y which would equal to this y=12/7 now we now that the solutions y is 12/7 we just have to input it into the original equation to find the x which is x=3/7 so the solution is          (3/7, 12/7).  you can also find the solution by simply plotting the linear equation on a graph and finding the points that match. you can also do elimination by simply multiplying either one or both equations so that either when the x or y s of both added together equals zero and the combining it altogether and isolating the non zero coefficients to get an answerhttps://myriverside.sd43.bc.ca/spencerd2021/wp-admin/post.php?post=634&action=edit#
