Indigenous Exploration Podcast “Living conditions”

Welcome to our living conditions podcast, this podcast was made by Sonali, Selina and Kajal. Our topic was living conditions, but since living conditions falls under a big umbrella we slimmed it down to water conditions and access to proper educati0n.

My experiences while making this assignment was being able to work with people i get along well with. I also had some past experience in 7th grade with Audacity. This made my experience a lot easier since i already knew the basics. I got to communicate with them to create our podcast. I also used a mic for the first time! During the beginning of our podcast, we did research, collected information and used the current knowledge we knew. Then we assigned each other certain parts to connect that research and write a mini paragraph, we uploaded all parts into a word document and color coded it. Purple was mine, blue was Selina’s and green was Kajal’s. That follows up to the final stages and we recorded 90% of the script in 1 day, the next day i got sick so they completed the podcast without me. But all they did was the final recording piece and added background music. During this time i learned that multiple reserves have been on a water boil advisories for 25+ years. That honestly shocked me, 25 years is crazy. The government also postponed the water boil advisory to 2026.

Core competency: Communication

I tied in communication with my learning because i would communicate my ideas to my group and they would give me their perspective of the idea. This helped me learn and have an understanding in another point of view which really helped with my research and ideas.

Footprint

Here is my project on my digital footprint

  • How can your phone have a positive and negative impact on your learning? – a positive impact that my phone can have is for communication. Such as getting updates from teams, texting your friends about school, using it as a research device and so much more. But, a negative impact can look like being up a night on your phone not allowing you to get enough sleep, getting distracted in class because a notification, less concentration on school and a lot more.

  • How might your digital footprint impact your high school experience? -Your digital footprint can impact you both negatively and positively. For an example, if you use social media to cyber-bully other people and people find out about it, it can affect you negatively. People can start to dislike you and start talking about you in a bad way which can really impact your high school experience. But, if you use do positive things online that isn’t targeting anyone in a negative way in can build a positive reputation. Say you run a social media account online, updating on new events, positive things happening in the school. It’ll impact your high school in a positive way.

  • What elements of school culture are necessary for you to be successful both academically and socially? – In the video that was given the 4 things that really stuck out to me were inspiring, hardworking, supportive and involved. the reason these 4 things stuck out to me was because 1 in you are inspired you can do basically anything. there can be multiple things/people that inspire you to accomplish your dream. 2 hardworking, everyone has a goal in life and in order to accomplish that goal you need to be a hardworking individual. Working hard for a dream is always gonna be worth it in the end. 3 supportive, in life everyone needs support from someone. it can be a friend, family member anyone! Lastly involved. Being involved can bring out new chances in school and outside of school. If you try new things you will learn new things!
