Introduction:

For my community connection assignment, I have interviewed my mom. One of her roles is, of course a mom. She is also a wife, employ and a friend. I have chosen to interview my mom because she is a very hard worker in every position. She is very passionate about respect, and that is why I respect her too.

Interview:

Q: Can you tell us your skill and what you do with that skill?

A: Well, I wouldn’t really call it a skill but my skill is giving respect. If you just try and put effort into it you can do it easily, but most people don’t. I give respect to everyone and everything. I think that people can’t judge others; they always need to give respect. So that’s what I do, give respect and change my negative perspective into positive.

Q: Why are you passionate about your skill?

A: My skill has naturally developed in me, I don’t know how. But I had a time when I was really stressed because of work and family. But I decided to respect my boss and family and change my negative thoughts into positive. That’s when I’ve realized that if you have a problem or concern, you should think positively and respect the people and things around you, and that will let you easily find a solution to your problem.

Q: What obstacles have you faced to get you where you are today?

A: There were many obstacles. I couldn’t always keep a positive mindset, so it was very hard. There were times when I had a problem at work, and when I came home all stressed out, the only thing I would hear was, “Mom give me food”. So that was very stressful. But because I have faced that situation and decided to respect my boss and my kids and keep a positive mindset, now even though I have a problem I think positively.

Q: What advice would you pass on to someone interested in what you are doing?

A: Giving respect may seem simple, but it is very hard. We are humans so our emotions can get up and down very easily. But you should never give up keeping that positive perspective and respecting people and things. In the end, you will get a reward. By facing your problems it will let you find solutions simply without having too much stress going on. So continue and don’t give up.

Q: What do you want the future to be?

A: I want the world to change in the future, and I believe that it will. If everyone put effort on changing their perspective and giving respect, I am sure that the future can be positive.

Q: Would you be open to further contact from Riverside students and if so, how can someone contact you?

A: I’m sorry but I can’t let the Riverside students contact me. I cannot speak English that well, and I am also very busy as a wife, mom and employ.

Conclusion:

I myself also find respect very important. It is an essential to society. By this interview, I have once again realized that giving respect and changing your perspective will not only help you but the people near you. I think my mom helped me by having a positive perspective and giving respect. That inspired me to also do the same thing as my mom. Another thing I have realized is that I need to increase my skill of respect to be out there I the society. By hearing my mom’s story, I have learnt that society isn’t an easy place, but you can always survive it by having a positive mindset. This interview opened my opportunities of finding solutions to my problems, just how my mom did. It has let me realize that I don’t need to be stressed out, that I can have a positive perspective of things and focus on the solution and not the problem.
