3D Printer Introduction

What are some things that were challenging?

What was especially challenging was the 3D printer failing three times. This was because the print was not sticking on the bed/plate so it was lifting. However, this issue was solved after I used a different printer.

What are some things that worked well?

What worked well was the designing part of the process. I followed the tutorial and that went quite smoothly. The instructions was easy to follow and I didn’t have much problems during this process.

What did you learn? What personalization did you do?

I learned how to make a jewellery holder using tinkercad. I put my initials on it, however it came out backwards, so I know now for next time to make it come out correctly. Following the tutorial, I decided to use a different shape from the one used in the tutorial.

Tech Team Quarter 1 Reflection

So far I have been involved in creating content rapidevent. I also participated in the pumpkin contest with another student, we spent 3 blocks on it. I’ve learned how to create a sticker design on cricut and use the cricut machine. I think one of my strengths is being able to maintain open-mindedness as when learning how to use technology I’ve never used before, I can learn how to use it quite quickly. Some challenges has been getting assignments in on time, I can definitely grow in this area and learn from my mistakes in semester 1. Looking ahead, I would like to learn more about all of the technology offered at riverside and how to use all machines with a deeper understanding. A specific goal is to be able to help other students use materials in the maker space by the end of the school year.

Cricut | Logo + Stickers Assignment

Reflection

What are some things that were challenging?

  • Finding an image with a file type that is compatible with the Cricut was one of the most challenging steps in creating the sticker. Because I did not create my own image, but instead find one off of google images, it was difficult to find an image that had the right file type and design. To overcome this challenge I had to use a file converter that worked with the image design so that the image did not alter in any way.

What are some things that worked well?

  • What went well was transferring the sticker onto the transfer paper and then onto a laptop where I put the sticker. The sticker turned out well, and it did not mess up during the transferring process.

What did you learn? How can you apply this?

  • I learned how to Cricut stickers using the heat press and vinyl. I can apply this knowledge to help other students at school use these tools and I can also use what I learned for future assignments for my classes that require creating something with the Cricut.
