TOKTW 2019

The Assignment:

You will be observing your host throughout the day. There are 3 parts to this assignment:

Part 1- The Interview: Observe your host at work, at some point interview your host and record/make notes of the results

Part 2 – Reflection: After the day is finished, reflect upon your experience and answer the reflection questions Part 3 – Post Your Assignment to Your Blog: Once your have completed Part 1 and Part 2 post it on your blog. Make sure you take pictures and/or videos to document your day, you can place them in your blog.

The Interview:

  1. What is your job title? chef/assistant chef
  2. What is your job description? i help with the cooking in the kitchen, clean if necessary,

and just help around the restaurant.

  1. What are the duties and/or tasks you perform at your job? cooking and sometimes cleaning if we are short on employees.
  2. What qualifications do you have for this job in the following areas:
    1. training? training in small restaurants just to start off from somewhere
    2. education?__ if you want to be a professional chef you can complete certificate programs that others can also earn 2 year associate’s or 4 year bachelor’s degrees.
    3. experience? it is mostly not required, but you can complete formal training through culinary programs

offered by community colleges, universities and culinary institutes.

  1. skills and attributes (personal qualities)? i think it would be better if you have better

communicating skills since you’re going to talk to people throughout the day since its a very public

 

  1. What are some of the things you like about the job? probably the fact that i’ve found new people to talk

  1. What are some of the things you dislike about this job? rude customers _

 

  1. How do you anticipate this job changing in the next 5 years or so? hopefully i will have a lot more

experience and will be doing a better job at this.

what would you change about this job if you could? i would again, not want to interact with rude customers.

    1. i like cooking a lot because it really calms me down and its very relaxing.
    2. i would love to meet new people there.
    3. i like being helpful and feeling useful so i would love to help around in the restaurant

    1. interacting with rude customers
    2. interacting with rude employees if there are any.
    3. having to talk to people om days that i dont really want to.
  3. Is this job for you? Why or why not?

i dont think i would want to have this job for sure because on some days, i really dont want to talk to people

but it could also be fun meeting new people.

  1. Explain the value of the TOKTW experience in relation to your ideas about your post secondary (after high school) plans (education?, training?, travel?, work?).

i have gotten some ideas but im still not sure about what i am gonna do.
