The Whirligig written by Paul Fleischman is about a boy named Brent who goes on a journey and makes whirligigs in each of the corners of the United States. To create and publish this project I used Powerpoint, Instagram, and Flipbook.
Ripples:
In my posts, I demonstrated how Brent went on a journey and is now more confident in himself. In the first three posts I discussed how Brent was trying to gloat about his new items, such as the Chicago Bull shirt. He tried to look cool and blend in. However, in his three most recent posts, he is not posting to impress people, since he is more confident in his personality, showing how his thought process has changed. I also demonstrated in Flaco’s posts how his mindset and mental state changed over time. In the first three posts, I talked about Flaco’s stress and the negative parts of his life. But in his most recent posts, you can tell that he is calmer, he was able to manage his stress, and he becomes more collected and grounded, demonstrating that he was able to balance his life out. In this project, I had to use both my creative and critical thinking skills to demonstrate my understanding of the novel. I had to think of creative ways to incorporate the themes in a way that made sense. I also had to analyze and reread a few of the book’s chapters in order to fully understand the personalities of the characters, to help me come up with good ideas for the captions, posts and messages.

Thank you for posting your flip book, showing your understanding of the piece of literature, “The Whirligig.” Here are my observations regarding your work:
– Excellent job transferring methods of presentation (PPT > PDF > Flip Book > Embedded blog post)
– Book looks professional with a combination of both text and photos
– Has all of the components discussed that were to be included from the various social media accounts
– Layout looks extremely professional with balanced photos, colour schemes, matching fonts, etc.
Overall, I thought you did an outstanding job on this project!
Thank you,
