A lot of the food that I eat come in various packing like cardboard boxes, Styrofoam, plastic etc. But one food that I really enjoy eating and that comes in many different packaging is goldfish. The reason I choose goldfish is because it comes in many different packaging. Like the plastic bag that keeps it fresh to the cardboard box it is placed in and last the plastic that is covers it. All the packing that they choose to use was for a certain reason like, the plastic that the goldfish are kept in are meant to keep the goldfish fresh. The box is to keep them in place and together, and the plastic covering is so that the goldfish don’t fall out of the box. All these packaging may have been needed but this does make it hard for the customer. Although the packing does make it neater and easier for the customers it also increases the customer’s daily waste. All the waste coming from the packaging is hard to get rid of. The packaging is placed in a land fill till the decompose. The plastic the goldfish are kept in and the plastic that covers it takes about 500-1000 years to decompose. After all these years of waiting they still don’t fully break down they just turn into something called a photo-degrade which leads to polluting the environment. The cardboard box also takes a couple years to fully break down. One way to decrease the amount of waste we make is to stop buying products that have all these packaging, because most of the time you can find the same product in a package that uses less packaging. Of even of you still want to buy this product something you should do is make sure that the packaging is probably recycled. These are my thoughts on the goldfish packaging.
