A) What is ironic about George’s comments on competition, laws, and society in the story? Support your opinions with evidence from the text. You may incorporate quotes if you find necessary, but this is not required.
b) Describe George and Hazel’s reactions at the end of the story. What do you think the author is trying to say through them?
A) It was very ironic in the book when the Ballerinas were dancing and they had on metal straps on so they couldn’t jump high or move quickly and agile so it was ironic because usually Ballerinas have all of those traits agile quick athletic ” that was a real pretty dance said hazel” ” George tried to think about how the ballerinas weren’t very good” it was ironic how George’s son is a big rebel in the Story but George is not when hazel asked George to let out a few pellets when they were home by them self George still wouldn’t take any out because he was afraid it was ironic about the society because with the news reporter he had a speech impediment and it’s ironic because usually reporters are good at talking
B) I think the author was trying to say that if everyone is equal and everyone but if everyone is equal then nobody is happy because they have nothing new to see so when hazel said “well that was a doozy” she said doozy a lot in the story because she had nothing new to see so she sounded sad and they had zero thoughts and emotions hazel saw her own son get shot on tv she cried for a few seconds George came in asked why she was crying “why are you crying George said hazel said I don’t know something sad though”
