This article interested me because it’s saying that we need to do more sports or have harder classes so we don’t have free time do “bad stuff” like they talk about but not all kids are going to do drugs or drink. they are referring that all kids who are not in the best school program are going to do bad stuff and I don’t agree with that because not all kids are the same. I thought it was insightful because I got to hear their opinion on what adults think about kids and it makes sense now when adults watch you when you are in a store.thinking we are going to steal or something and I’ve had this happen to me before and it explains and demonstrates that adults are getting fed information like this and making their children have a hard time and making kids do stuff they don’t want to do because they think we will do bad stuff but I understand teens are potrayed as doing bad stuff so they want to make graduation harder. but all in all it was a good article!

200 Nigerian woman kidnapped from families

Ryan Raposo 200 Nigerian woman free
https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2018/04/11/world/africa/nigeria-boko-haram-girls.html

In this article about 200 Nigerian school girls who were taken from their school for four years by the group of Boko haram . What interested me in this article is that this is still an occurring problem not all of the 200 woman have been freed and this is happening in my time and more people need to be aware of this problem that these woman lost their childhood being abused and sexually assaulted and now are scarred and lost their childhood and now are woman. The authors writing of the article was very insightful and sad he shows the faces of the girls and their sides of their experience and their stories are just unimaginable pain and his writing makes you really feel the pain of the girls and what they went through. I made connections to this article because in 2014 I was seeing all these famous celebrities posting pictures making it more aware and using their fame for good and only knowing little about this at the time in 2014 and now reading this I have more knowledge about this situation and how the girls were kidnapped from their school and were at gun point walking to the bus and other boys (classmates) were burned alive trying to stop the men this problem has affected all. The article conveys that all lives matter and no matter your race that this problem needs to be stopped. Nigeria and the Boko haram group have been in war for 9 years and it still carries on and it needs to be stopped and the girls need to be freed and come home safely.

Syrian refugee being grateful in a new country

Syrian newcomers show their appreciation donating blood in Calgary in time of need

In the article I read by global news was about a Syrian refugee man named whalid alfalah in a time of need he helped and donated blood to a Canadian citizen who was endangered of loosing their life and this man despite racism remarks he stepped up as a new Canadian citizen and donated blood to me this demonstrates that he shows lots of love and support to his new country. And this man talks about how big of an honour to donate blood in Syria and it is the biggest loyalty you can do in that country and for him to do that in his new country is just amazing and how astonishing on how grateful he is to be in this country and that makes me feel good about my country and proud I am to live in Canada that we truly are a welcoming nation despite religious and or skin colour/race. I thought that the author of this article piece was quite insightful because she makes the reader feel like they are apart of it in my opinion that you were really there watching the live feed. Connections I made to this was about how Canada accepted hundreds of Syrian refugees in the time of need and I relate to that because I come from a family of Immigrants that moved from Portugal here and how proud they are to be Canadian and them getting up and moving to Canada really took a turn on their life especially my grandma who had to learn to speak English is she ever wanted to go out and it makes me feel happy that our nation welcomed them with open arms and it reveals that Canada is a strong nation when we are all on the same page and something small like that with just giving blood to a stranger in a brand new country to me is the best thing you can do.

Bio 11 Charles Darwin

Charles Darwin was a English biologist who’s theory was about and if some animals had common genes and character traits and if they once evolved into something new like how it’s been a question if monkeys really did evolve into humans or not and that was Charles Darwin theory. darwin on his 5 year voyage to the Galapagos and on his journey he saw a giant tortoise and it had gene mutation based on the different island each one lived on with different shell pattern. Another one that was mentioned in the documentary was this special needs child who’s brain is the size of half of a regular sized human brain and that lead to the scientists and doctors to relate to his sibling with a muscle deformity and by this he did an experiment by swobbing his inner cheek with a Qtip to see if he carried the same gene mutation since having the same genes as his brother and it turned out he did carry it just was not located in the same spot and it did not affect him. Another one was how your thumb is able to do all the work that the brain tells it to do and how the thumb can touch all the other fingers but the other fined cannot do that, that’s how we are able to pinch and throw balls and hold objects with our thumb. And how fish evolved into growing legs to escape from other predators and turned into a alligator/crocodile the fish and a crocodile even though being 2 different types of animal groups the fish being from aquatic and crocodile being an amphibian they actually share common genes.
