Extracting DNA
what we did in this lab is we had one frozen strawberry in one Ziploc bag and a banana in another Ziploc bag in each bag we added 1 spoon of salt and 2 spoons of soap and 25ml water. After that, we crushed the fruits for about 5 minutes after 5 minutes were done we added poured the mixture into the test tubes about half way, then we added 15ml of ethanol slowly and added 3 quarters into each tube. What I learned is that crushing banana with the salt soap and water made the banana smelled really really bad and the reason was maybe from crushing the banana. The reason the activity was important to complete was because the teacher wanted to show us what extracting DNA would look like with fruit.
