Math 10 – Week 9

Something I learned this week was how to determine the rule for patterns in linear relations. The pattern 3, 5, 7, 9 could be found by first looking at how much is added or subtracted from each number. In this example, there is 2 being added each time it goes up meaning that what we put first will be 2x. For our next step, what we do next is see how much we need to add or take away from the number after multiplying x with its coefficient. In this example, 3 minus 1 would get you back to 2, so what we put next is -1. The rule for this patter is 2x -1.
