Math 10 – Week 1

Something interesting  I learned this week was that you find the Greatest Common Factor (GCF) or Least Common Multiple (LCM) with prime factorization. To do this you first need to have 2 numbers that you want to find the GCF or LCM for. After that, you need to divide those numbers with either a factor tree or a division table into prime numbers. This is called prime factorization.

GCF: With the 2 numbers you have done the prime factorization to, multiply each of the numbers they share.

LCM: With the 2 numbers you have done the prime factorization to, multiply all the numbers together, but only put 1 of that number for each time the 2 prime factorized numbers share that same number.
