A Place at the Table Video Response (APATTresponse)

1. What are two examples of food insecurity identified in this movie? What were some of the ways in which the individuals involved coped with their predicament? Were they successful? Why or why not?
Geographic information related to hunger (vegetables not growing) and information about health. They work out, but I don’t think it is successful. For the geographic the truck could only carry limited food to people and they need to pick the food will last long which cause not enough nutrients. The truck to deliver food are also limited, so there won’t be enough food to everyone. For the poor people they eat more junk food because it is cheaper. Eat too much junk food have cause many diseases to children and adult.

2. What specific demographics in our country might be more at risk of experiencing food insecurity? Why are they more at risk? Is there anything historical that might have caused this increased risk?
Homeless people and people don’t have job are more at risk than other people because they don’t have money to buy proper food and they don’t have a clean environment to live. The food insecurity in present days are cause by Trump for sure, but there is still historical cause. Some work place would not hire colored people, or they will only hire people that is their color, so this difficult for some people to find job. At some place women are less educate, so they can’t find job or to protect themselves. The women are getting to much child and they do not have enough money to feed them.

3. What is your personal reaction to this movie? Did you have any preexisting ideas about food insecurity? Were you surprised by some of the information that was presented? Why or why not?
I feel like these people are just not smart enough. However, my mom and I was very poor did not have house when we first came to Canada, but now my mom owns two houses and she have her own business. My mom did not go to school during her child hood, she only has the basic level of education. I think if these people use their brain hard enough they should at least have enough food to eat.

4. If you were in a position to directly or indirectly influence the issue at hand (such as a politician or policy maker) what would you do to help? What policies do you think could aid those that are hungry? OR What is a way that you could make a difference today? How would you go about making that difference and change?
I would give those people that are starving a piece land, so they can plant some vegetables to eat. Other than that ill will ask the scientist to invent a plant that is eatable and can live in any environment.

Caffeine dehydrates you

Source 1 talk about the idea that caffeine causes dehydration was first discourse in 192. They found people who increased their urination drank caffeinated drinks, and that caffeine was a diuretic. Professor Lawrence Armstrong is director of the laboratory for kinesiology and human performance at the university of Connecticut. The idea spread, and caffeine’s reputation as a dehydrating substance was cemented. According to a 2016 survey by the center for public health nutrition at the university of Washington. While the stimulant doesn’t cause dehydration, it also has some so-called side effects, including rumors that it could stunt human development or cause cancer.
Source 2 it also says caffeine doesn’t dehydrate people only increase urine. It may be some sort of ancient culinary legend that coffee and tea are dehydrating. Caffeine is indeed a mild diuretic, which means it causes people’s kidneys to excrete excess sodium and water through their urine. Dr. Daniel Virgil, an associate clinical professor of family medicine at UCLA’s David Geffen school of medicine, explains that it’s reasonable to think that people might be dehydrated if they urinate frequently, causing a lot of fluid to drain, but that’s not the case.
To conclude, Caffeine dehydrates people is a swindle. Caffeine in crease urine doesn’t take water away from human body. People think it dehydrates because when people pee they lose water from the body and they more they pee the easier they will get dehydrate which create an illusion of caffeine will dehydrate human body.

You know what cats are the cutest animals

Ouch! My Face
Squish, squish, squish cat’s paws are as soft as marshmallows
Every timae when you squish it you will see theirs pointy nails
Meow! Three scars on the face, the cat walked away
walking toward the sleeping cat, ouch trip over the book
Cat runs away again

Swing, swing, swing, the cat is swinging its tail like a pinwheel
The cat like to laying on the floor and swing its tail
Meow! Six scars on the face the cat walk away
Looking for the missing cat, ouch trip over the cat
Cat runs away again

Drip, drip, drip, the bathroom feel like a sauna, the cat escape
Looking for the missing cat and finally catch it
Meow, nine scars on th face, but I didn’t give up
With ton of scars on the face, and finally I finished boiling the cat
Cat runs away again

Whin, whim, whim, having a cat as pet is not easy st all
They are not as loyalty as dog they runs away ever time
But on the end you will forgive them by their cuteness
Cat is back

My poem is a lyric poem because it is telling a story of a cat and there is rhythm in the poem. The idea of this poem come from cat. Cats are my favorite animal. It is easier to write about what I like. The them of this poem is cats are cute; however, I don’t think everyone think cats are cute by reading my poem. Ever one have their own point view and in my view the cat in the poem is cute. I did not use rhyme in the poem for it easy to write. When you use rhyme you need to know many words and I don’t which is challenging for me. I used onomatopoeia, simile and rhythm for my poem.

pop can race

0401_1Hypothesis:

I think the pop can move if you create enough static electricity. Either rubbing balloon on human hair or rub fur on a balloon will work the best.

How will I test my hypothesis?

  1. I will grab a  balloon and a piece fur
  2. rub the fur on the balloon for 30 second
  3. place the balloon close to the pop can. Than the pop can get attract toward the balloon.

Observation:

The longer you rub the fur on the balloon more static electricity you get. When you rub the balloon on the hair it won’t work on some people’s hair. For example, when I rub the balloon on my hair it worked pretty well, but when Vivian rub it on  her hair it didn’t work. Also it is easier to create static electricity at place that is dry.

Conclusion:

Vivian and I loose the race at first round. It look like Vivian is someone that is hard to get static electricity. When we wear testing I was the one that is rub the materials on the balloon and Vivian was the one who rub on the contest. Every time I rub the balloon it work pretty well, but when Vivian rub the balloon it never worked.

Discussion:

  1. My hair and balloon also fur and balloon because this materials were gaining and losing electrons to each other.
  2. In the ones we tried Vivian‘s hair and the balloon worked least I don’t know why.
