This volunteer opportunity I’m researching is at the animal shelter. I found this page on the Coquitlam Website, under pets and animals, and finally under animal shelter. The title of this page is called “Animal Shelter Volunteer Oportunities”. For this volunteer opportunity I would get to play with animals and keep the cats company. The information has stated that the shelter has but a hold on volunteers for due to a minor number of dogs who are applicable for adoption. There is no information on when they will be open to recruitments so it could be any time soon. After reading about the opportunity on the website, this volunteer job seems very susceptible. Why? Because on the website it said that the public is open to the shelter and anyone can visit anytime. Even if they arent looking for volunteers, I consider this as an volunteer option because the website has stated that anyone can come to the visit shelter so if I came to the shelter regularly that would be showing that I care and I would be freely offering my time. In my opinion that counts as volunteering. This volunteer opportunity could benefit my future, if I wanted to get a job in the “animal field” because it could boost my experiance and knowledge with animals. If me and another person applied for the same job, I would be most likely to get the job because they would see that I have volunteered with animals on my resume. I am passionate about getting involved with this feild because I enjoy playing with animals. They give me joy and hapiness and its definetly something I would do on my free time. Also I don’t have any pets (only a fish), my parents don’t like pets and they don’t want us to have one. The biggest animal I’ve had was a hamster and four chickens. I have never had the real experience of having a pet so volunteering at an animal shelter is something I would really enjoy doing.
The hours for this shelter is Monday to Friday – 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and Statutory Holidays – 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

The positions available for this job is Cashier, Store Associate, Department Supervisor, Assistant Manager, Store Manager. This employment opportunity can benifit my future in many ways. It will help me strengthen my social skills. It will help me have more experience in a stressful environment. It will look good on my resume. The qualifications this job require is that I have to be 18 years old. This skills and qualification I bring to the job is my organisation. I am very good with cleaning and helping out. I can picture my self color coding everything. I really love art and I think I would be good at giving advice and tips. I also have a really great memory and I can remember were everything is in the story (it is pretty good). The steps I will have to take in order to be suitable for this position is being more talkative. I would have to be comfortable with talking to custamorsand be more extraverted and not shy. I have not be afraid to ask for help and get to know my co workers.
