A poem for the sleepless
Getting out of bed shouldn’t be so hard to do
Its because I dislike the sun but love the moon
And when its dark inside my head
I just want to go back to sleep in my bed
Why do I struggle with things that should come so naturally
The smallest thing can split my mind in two
and make me start feeling blue
I wish everything came as easily as loving you
I can think of all our days so clear
When I’m alone I wish I could conjure you up right here
You make me feel like a Greek god when you’re around
Oh how I wish I everything could come as easily as loving you
Composition of a poem for the sleepless:
A poem for the sleepless reveals how love can change someones life. Someone who really cares can lighten up your life is the prevailing theme of the poem. It has some rhyming throughout and starts itself as hopeless with despair but then lightens up in the second half of the poem. The author uses metaphors throughout with lines such as “the smallest thing can split my mind in two” or “when its dark inside my head”. Both of these metaphors make it so it conveys a stronger message or image than saying mess up my mood or when i’m sad. Lastly it has some repetition to show how much they care about the person they are writing about.
