What have I learned and accomplished in Teach Team this semester? How have I used this to support the school?

This year was my first year in Tech Team and over the past two quarters, I have been enjoying learning and developing new skills. I have learned multiple skills including, how to offer assistance at the Wave, how to use the Cricket, and learning my way around photoshop. The most successful aspect of my work was acquiring the ability to work with these new machines/programs because I was able to apply that to teaching and assisting others in how to use them. Not only in the Wave was I able to provide help, but I was also able to help my fellow peers with projects. The most challenging problem I had to solve while working on my assignments was how I could make my creation useful, specifically speaking about the Cricut assignment. I had to ensure that whatever I made would be practical and not something I would never use again. I decided to make t-shirts for myself and my sister and it is now something I wear daily. To overcome that challenge I simply thought about something I always enjoy which is clothes. In the end, I incorporated my preferences to make them relevant in the project to ensure I would not waste any materials I got the opportunity to use. In the future for the next two quarters, I wish to improve by joining a bigger project to further my involvement in the Tech Team other than only helping in the Wave. I have also started to incorporate the work I do in IDS Leadership with my position in Tech Team, therefore my second goal would be to take that further and learn more on how to combine the two to make the work I do on both even better.

As Riverside continues to immerse itself into innovation and technology, what do you think Riverside can do to provide support and help for teachers and students?

Riverside is constantly advancing in technology which means things are always changing and it can make it difficult to adjust. I believe that the best thing we can do as a team to help the students and teachers keep up is to inform and educate them on all the technology we use and what is available. We need to make sure that all the students know all the opportunities they can have within the school using technology. For example, they should know what they have access to in the library and how they can use those tools to make school projects and improve their learning. As a technologically advanced school, we should always make sure the teachers and students are aware of what they can use and how to use it.

Feedback or suggestions, as we move forward, that could help the Tech Team meet the needs of our school and staff / be more effective.

The most effective way to meet the needs of our school and staff would be to simply ask our school what they need help with. If we know specifically how to help them, we can take it from there to provide them help based on exactly what they need. It would also be effective to address each solution one at a time (if it is a big or school-wide problem) to ensure full success and understanding.
