Life is about Experiences – Quinn Basi

Descriptive Writing

As I ran inside with the box in hand, my heart pounded with excitement knowing full well what rested underneath of that cardboard lidded box. I lifted the lid to uncover nothing less than a beautiful work of art. My eyes lit up like a child on Christmas morning. The feel of my finger tips gliding across the crisp, smooth, white sheet of paper that covered the shoes gave me a priceless feeling that no other shoe brand could give me. As if it were a dream I lifted the shoe from the box and treated it like a new born baby. I quickly slid my foot in and pulled the back of the shoe over my heel. My first steps felt like I was walking on clouds and nobody could touch me. I went to bed that night wondering and dreaming out scenarios of how people would react to my shoes at school the next day. I woke up extra early that morning and wore my shoes around the house as I got ready for school. The clock hit 8:25, I left the house to go and wait for the bus, I stepped outside and took a massive breath of fresh air. Feeling like a new man, I walked onto the bus in a hurry to see the priceless reactions on people faces when they saw my new kicks. Jaws all around me dropped, including the bus driver’s. People store at my feet as if they had seen a ghost, just as I imagined a priceless reaction from the people on the bus. The bus arrived at Riverside Secondary School a few minutes later. I walked off the bus and into the school as if I could fly. The reaction to my new shoes in math class was remarkable. The next class I had was English with Ms. Tate, we were assigned a descriptive writing assignment. I was completely lost as to what I would do for my piece of writing until Ms. Tate came up with a great idea to do it on unboxing a pair of Jordans. I walked home that day in my new shoes eager to get typing. I sat down at my computer desk still wearing my shoes do to the fact that I felt I could do anything in my shoes. I played Biggie Small’s Life or Death album and typed away all night until my hearts content.
