Bosnia-Herzegovina genocide

I learned that a leader of a country is extremely important to have.  Once Tito passed away everything went terribly wrong.  The public looked up to Tito and believed in what he said and his beliefs.  But once Tito was gone there was no control, they acted like savages and believed that their race was superior to all others.

The holocaust timeline reflection

This all started when Adolf Hitler was appointed the chancellor of Germany in 1933.  Soon later 40, 000 men were sworn in as auxiliary police.  Throughout the year of 1933, the Nazis take multiple steps in a plan to get rid of the Jewish.  Some include burning the Reichstag building, issuing a decree defining non-Ayran, burning of books, and excluding Jews from the arts and owning land.  Then in 1934 Jews are not allowed health insurance.  Skipping five years to 1939 the Jewish are forced to hand over all gold and silver, Nazis invade Poland, the Jewish now have a curfew, Great Britain, and France declare war on Germany, and finally, yellow stars are required to be worn by the Polish Jews over the age of 10.  Lastly in 1945 things are looking up, many Jews were freed from concentration camps and Russian and American troops have a big hand in this.  On May 7, 1945, the German’s surrender.

When looking at the timeline the Nazis really took control at first and then implemented more laws or decrees throughout the years. There were some years where they weren’t as active but the Jewish were still being forced to do many things.  When the war was declared personally I think that was the turning point.  I think the rest of the world realized what was happening.  And because of this, this ended in the Germans surrender.

Fascism

I learned a lot about fascism and its perspective(s) through this activity, and I enjoyed it.  It got me to look and understand an ideology that isn’t very present in today’s day and it is the least popular ideology overall.  It got me to look at how the fascists wanted total government control, no democracy, and strict laws, with no individualism.  This is the complete opposite of liberalism, which places a big part in the 21st century.  During the roundtable discussion, we wanted government more involved, we wanted immigration and did support the oil industry, but we did not support the protesting of citizens.  The most interesting thing about this activity was being able to hear all the perspectives of the ideologies and comparing them to one another.  This allowed me to personally choose which one I agreed with.  Finally, in the end, you had the chance to vote which also showed the perspective of the whole class.  There was nothing really challenging about it, which made it an even more enjoyable activity.

Dear Samuel Perksons,

I am writing this letter in hopes that you will receive it.  Holidays are coming soon.  The kids and I are doing quite well.  Although that doesn’t go for everyone around here.  Government’s really taking action, taking away such things as freedom.  But on the bright side economy is doing well now that the munitions board is in effect.  No more jammed weapons, or soggy boots for you.  You must be happy.  Makes me more relieved that you will be more safe.  Although you can never be safe when you’re a part of the war.  But it’s your choice and I support you, many others volunteered because of the lack of employment, or simply because of patriotism.  It helps me to think that I am not the only wife alone in this. The munitions board over here in Canada is taking effect now.  I’m so very glad they decided that Sam Hughes wasn’t doing it justice.  Here in Canada food prices are dropping, makes it much more affordable for us three at home.  Although the government did raise the taxes .  Women are getting more involved now.  It’s nice to have more to do throughout the day.  I usually find myself worrying about you.  But, now that I have a job to do my minds at ease during most of the day.  I’m working in the factory.  Not a pretty job for a woman like me but it will do.  On top of that women are allowed to vote federally now.  Now that I have my say I feel considered as a part of something bigger.  Jackson and Erin miss you dearly.   They talk about you a lot and wonder what it’s like to be in your position.   Let me just say they are very proud of you, as I am too.  Christmas won’t be the same without you.  But we will get through it just like we always do.  You know they all said it would be a quick war but it ain’t seem to turn out that way.  I should probably let you go now.  I’ll write you in a few months, this sure does cost a few to send it over to you.  Stay safe.  We love you always.

Love Your Wife,

Eve.
