This week we practiced turning equations into different forms in order to find out more about the parabola.

We had the forms of standard, vertex, and factored. If you were given vertex form, you would be able to find the vertical translation, horizontal translation, vertex, line of symmetry, stretch, and if the parabola was a maximum or a minimum.

The only thing you do not have is the x and y-intercepts. you could find this information out by transforming the vertex form into a standard by foiling. Then, by looking at the number at the end of the equation, you would know the y-intercept.

If this equation is factorable, you would factor the equation and the two numbers in the new factored equation are the x-intercepts.

Though, if you started with a standard form equation, you would complete the square to get the vertex form.

By using these methods, you can find everything you need to know about the parabola given.
