Week 18 – Pre-Calc 11

The end is nigh!

With the end of the semester so close, my last post will be explaining the sine law to the best of my ability.

Basically what it’s saying is that the sin of angle A / side a is equal to the sin of the angle B / side b is equal to the sin of angle C / side c.

We use this formula when we have 2 angles and one side or two sides and one angle to find the missing angle/side.

First, input all your data into the formula, you want to choose two of the three fractions that work best.

You need one fraction with a side and an angle as well as the fraction with the undefined side or angle.

You then make sure that your variable is one top. If it’s on the bottom, you are allowed to flip the equation to have the angles on the top and the sides on the bottom.

Once you are here, cross multiply and solve using algebra.

Just remember that if you switch sine to the other side you then multiply by sin^-1

You’ll then be able to solve for your variable to find your angle/side!

See? Not too bad at all. That’s literally all the sine law is.
