Week – 6 Pre-Calc 11

This week was a good one! Quadratics has been a little trying on my brain but I’m starting to wrap my head around it. My new favorite way to find x is now the quadratic formula.

Speaking of the quadratic formula, let me explain.

Basically, you are able to plug and play any equation you want into the quadratic formula as long as it follows the ax^2+bx+c=0 template.

The quadratic formula itself is this :(The very bottom one)

I needed to use an image because latex takes to long for that.

Another great way to remember it is the lovely song:

x =  -b plus or minus

the square root of b squared – 4ac

all over to 2a

Imagine a soaring symphonic score over that modern masterpiece.

The reason I find this equation so handy and useful compared to say, finding the square, is that you just have to plug in your a b and c digits and you get an answer.

It is important to remember that this equation is used only when it is not factorable normally. This means that it doesn’t fall under any part of the CDPUE acronym.

Here is an example: x^2+9x+7=0

As far as I’m concerned, it is impossible for any multiple of 9 to equal 7. (Being that there is only one possible combination which is 1 times 9). This means it is quadratic and needs the formula!

I had to write it out cause latex takes too long, but that is how the quadratic equation works with an example!

Thanks for checking it out.
