This assignment explored the image of “Birds on a Wire” made by Banksy through a poem,  on the concept of inclusivity, respect, belonging. The theme of this assignment was to explore inclusivity, respect and collaboration however the theme that fits best my poem is inclusivity, respect and the aspect of belonging and how everyone belongs as we are all the same.

Here is my poem, its called “I am a bird too” by Olivia.

The cold crisp air ruffles my feathers in the sun.

I am lonely yet never find myself alone.

Their taunts and threats haunt my brain.

I try to ignore them and dream, 

dream I could fly like the moon and stars, 

 Back home where I am just a bird. 

No different from them.  

Never threatened and yelled at.  

But here,

They are grey and I am green, 

It shouldn’t matter as we are all birds.

 But their small, boxed mind prevents them from realizing, 

That I in fact, am the same as them, 

That I in fact, also have power, 

Power to work, be free and have rights. 

To dream whatever, I want all day and night.  

I am a bird too, just like they are. 

We are all different yet all the same.  

We are all birds. 

Wanting the same or similar things. 

Maybe once lonely yet never alone.
