This is a project for english and COL using genial.ly to make a bento box using symbolic objects from the book to represent my ideas. My objects are interactive with my paragraphs and content inside each button. You can press a button to access my content for the novel Long Way Down by Jason Reynolds. This project explores the theme,two characters, inquiry and text to the world or text to text connections. I hope you enjoy my project.

Here is my core competency reflexion:

My artifact demonstrates strength and growth in the thinking competency as I had to really read in between the lines to find a theme statement for the book. I had to make connections to the world today and use evidence that is still relevant and is powerful enough to support my ideas and concepts. I had to become creative and think outside of the box whilst choosing the artifacts for my picture. I had to edit my picture and make it smaller and get rid of a lot of shadows so it looked more presentable. I am proud of myself as I have dedicated a lot of time towards this project and have really put all my effort into this and have stayed up late so many nights trying to make my paragraphs and ideas more efficient. I have had to analyze the structure of the novel and how the author for my novel writes, which took a while as I had to go over many points and read through the book trying to find devices such as similes and metaphors and to see what kind of vocabulary he uses and the perspective or the protagonist. For the future I could improve on being more conseice with my writing and perhaps starting the project earlier so I can dedicate more time towards one certain part of the project, so I can fully focus all my effort and attention on that instead of burning myself out doing multiple paragraphs per day.  Overall I am very happy with my work and am very proud of myself, I have put a lot of effort into this project and I hope you enjoy it!
