This assignment was to either pick a social issue indigenous people face and to do a podcast about it or to choose a residential school and do a podcast about the residential school you chose. I worked with Ciara and we chose to do a podcast about a residential school and the school we chose was St. Mary`s residential school in Mission British Columbia.

Reflection:
My experiences were relatively good whilst creating this assignment, I had no digital trouble until I started making my blog post as my links would not load or appear, which was very frustrating. The blue snowball worked like a charm and the quality was so much better than it was when I had just used a computer (on a different assignment). We had no trouble finding any information about the school and surprisingly we were able to complete the majority of our work in class, as the only thing we needed to work on at home was the script for the podcast. We were able to create a detailed script that we even had parts left we didn’t record as we didnt have enough time, fortunately those parts were just extra information to add in case we were short with time.
We used teamwork and were able to do all of our research in class and find more than enough information that would support our project. We used multiple different sites to check if our information was correct and it was as all the sites said the same thing. We both did our best and found our fair share of information, we created a shared document where we put all of our information in and used the same document to create the script.

It did not take too long to record as we had everything ready to record and the setup only took like three minutes, however the only difficulty was that audacity would sometimes delete out clips so we had to record the same clip multiple times. And sometimes we would keep messing up the same word which meant we had to redo the entire clip. That was an obstacle we had faced which was frustrating but we had kept trying and persevering and in the end everything worked out perfectly. I value that in this culture everyone is open and accepting towards each other and everyone else in the community. They are all kind and treat each other with kindness which the world needs more of. I love how in their culture family is something they truly value, as to me family is an important part of who we are. I love all the cultural art and how each animal is connected to the earth and represents a value and a lesson. I deeply admire how the stories the indigenous people tell all have a meaning and a moral of the story which teaches the reader or listener a lesson. I find all cultures wonderful and beautiful as they all have interesting and special aspects. I was born in Canada and so were my parents however most of my family came from Ukraine and a small part came from Germany. Because I am Ukrainian we have so many unique traditions and values. We believe that you must always respect your elders and treat everyone as an equal and with kindness. For Easter we paint eggs with bee wax and decorate them, they bring peace and are called Pysanky. We have a lot of other special traditions we do for the holidays and I always find it interesting to learn more about Ukrainian culture as it is a part of who I am. This project was sad and a deep topic to learn about however I liked it as I got to educate myself further on what happened in the past.
