Digital Footprint

How might your digital footprint affect your future opportunities? Give at least two examples.

Just like the example that was given to us, if you say something that your employer or someone in a high position doesn’t agree with it could end badly for you. They can deduct your scholarships/ future job opportunities. If this all spirals out of control, before you know person using MacBook Proit, you may be living in a bad situation all because of a tweet. On a more positive note, you may have an employer who may be reluctant to hire you. They then look at your digital footprint and see a lot of positive things. After seeing this that may be the thing that pushes them over the edge to hire you.

Describe at least three strategies that you can use to keep your digital footprint appropriate and safe.

You can make sure your social medias are set on private mode. This way when people try to see your photos you will have to approve of it first. You could also not use your real name. If you use your real name anyone can search you up even if they haven’t met you but they know your name. If you use your initials or maybe your first and middle name instead of first and last name. A final strategy would be to delete old accounts. If you delete old accounts then you can stay on top of what you want to be seen and not forget old things that may have been posted.Résultats de recherche d'images pour « digital footprint »

What information did you learn that you would pass on to other students? How would you go about telling them?

That everything and anything you do might still be on the internet. Even if you delete something it still may not be deleted. I would also tell them to keep their digital footprint as clean as possible. I would probably tell them by just letting it slip in a casual conversation so it isn’t too alarming. I would also try to make them remember though, so I would say it in a memorable way.
