Part 1: Class Support Summary
- What was the class you tutored and the teacher you supported? The name that I supported this semester was Academic Strategies Learners with Mr. Robin Purdy.
- fgWhat students did you specifically support and what did you do to help them? What was a struggle for these students? What did you do that worked and what did not work? Please keep student’s names anonymous. …My class is about teaching student English proficiently and one of the students that I helped was M. Her English was pretty good but she wasn’t doing well in the class. I helped her to finish her due assignments. One of the things that I helped her with was to memorize one of the Shakespeare’s poems.
- Describe some of the growth you observed in students. I observed M become more confident and willing to do difficult things. She began finishing more of her work on time, and her grade went from nearly failing to above a C+.
Part 2: Learning Summary
- What are some of the highlights of your peer tutoring experience? A highlight for me was seeing students improve because of my help. For example, one time I brought some online games about the class lecture, and when I saw students enjoying them while learning the lecture it felt tutoring éso meaningful for me.
- How has the peer tutoring experience supported your personal growth as a learner, leader and tutor? ..Because I had to explain things in a variety of ways and with clarity, tutoring helped me develop as a communicator. For instance, I used to provide an example sentence or rephrase an assignment using easier language. Because I had to mentor students without performing a task for them, it also helped me develop as a leader.
- How will the peer tutoring experience benefit you in your future pathways?.. This experience will help me in the future because communication and patience are important in every job. For example, if I work in a team someday, I will know how to explain ideas clearly and help others without getting frustrated.
- What do you believe is your strength as a peer tutor? Patience is one of my strengths. For example, I didn’t rush M when she needed more time to learn anything. I stayed calm and gave her step-by-step instructions until she felt comfortable.
- What is an area you would like to continue to personally develop? I want to improve at giving clearer instructions. Sometimes I explain things too quickly. For example, when I explained an assignment once, M looked confused, and I realized I needed to slow down and check that she understood before moving on.

b.) Attendance — 7/8
I’m almost always on time.
When I have an excused absence, I notify ahead of time.
c.) Preparedness — 4/4
I come ready with materials and know what we’re working on.
I also check in with students after the teacher’s lecture to see if they need help.
d.) Work Ethic — 4/4
I always put in my best effort.
I stay focused and help students even when they don’t ask first.
e.) Respect — 4/4
I treat everyone politely and listen carefully.
I try to make students feel comfortable asking questions.
f.) Tutoring Skills — 10/12
I communicate clearly and use different strategies to help students.
I lead when needed and ask students if they need support, not just when they come to me.
I still have room to grow, so I didn’t give myself a perfect score.
If you want, I can help you turn this into a script that sounds even more natural for a video.
