How does Canada protect us from an autocracy?

Canada has multiple levels of government. We have a representative democracy, which means rather than one person having all the power, we have 338 representatives that represent different smaller areas of the country. We also have a parliamentary system in place so that no laws can be passed by just one person or without discussion. Additionally, our federal government allows for more distribution of power, in between central government and local governments. All of these are factors that result in Canada protecting us from an autocracy.
