In Science 10, my CRISPR-Cas9 presentation challenged me to think critically about the ethical and scientific implications of gene editing. I analyzed both the potential benefits and risks, evaluating different perspectives on its use in medicine and genetics. This project strengthened my ability to assess complex scientific issues, form logical arguments, and present information in a clear and balanced way.

EFP final reflection core competency
What are your strengths as a learner and how can you use these strengths to pursue reconciliation?
I believed that my greatest skill as a learner is my ability to communicate my learning through conversation. By taking what I have learned EFP 11 about reconciliation I can contribute by spreading this knowledge to those who may be ignorant to this dark side of Canadian history.

Winston from “1984”
Winston Smith, the protagonist of George Orwell’s novel “1984”, is introduced in part one, chapter one of the book. He’s described as a lonely Caucasian man in his thirties, thin and frail, and dressed in blue overalls. Inferring that he is not in good health as a result of a lack of nutrition. Winston is haunted by childhood memories. His sister and mother were murdered during the first Great Purge. In Airstrip1, he is classified as an Outer Party member or a middle-class citizen. Who works in the Ministry of Truth’s Records Department for the ruling party. His job is to rewrite history and create propaganda that supports the party’s version of what it wants to say. Winston lives in a desolate and oppressive environment. From the streets to his flat, the city is run-down and filthy. When big brother and the thought police were watching him, one of them mentioned Julia as his romantic love interest. Winston is described as by one of his co-workers, “Just the man I was looking for.” (Nesti 47)
