Why did George Orwell write 1984?

George Orwell wrote “1984” as a warning to the world’s traumatic events and the rise of dictatorships following World War II. During the writing of “1984”, dictatorships in China, Russia, Germany, and Italy starved and dehumanized their citizens. Seeing George use this as a terrifying possibility that could happen in the western world.
