In the small town of Pemberton, BC, huge flavours are found at Mile One Eating House. Named number one restaurant in Pemberton numerous times by Pique Newsmagazine, you can find Mile One Eating House 30 minutes north of Whistler. Making an appearance on the show You Gotta Eat Here and Global News, Mile One is known for their fresh and local ingredients. With fast and friendly service, even during rushed, peak hours, they still produce their addictive, quality dishes. What they call gourmet comfort food, their most popular items on their menu consists of their thick, juicy burgers and rich, to die for mac and cheeses. Their burgers are made with all natural beef, chicken, salmon, tuna. All the produces are sourced locally and everything is stacked between the in house made buns that will blow your mind away. On the side, they have potato wedges, a healthier alternative to fries, and they are freshly made by famous Pemberton potato’s that are represented by Pemberton’s mascot, Potato Jack. For a refreshing cold beverage to sip on, they have a ton of local brews and sodas to choose from. The atmosphere is family friendly, filled with returning locals and many tourists all year around. The vibes are very upbeat and relaxing at the same time with background music bumping in the background and the sounds of the grill sizzling in the open kitchen. The style to the restaurant is very open and modern with a whistler type feel and a Pemberton twist. The chalk board menu complements the log home style as well as the many wooden posts around the restaurant. On the walls, there are many decorations like a bull’s scull and horns with a unique story behind it and a cartoon map of Pemberton the size of the wall that you must check out. Another must see is a market attached to the restaurant where the restaurant sells local goods and some of their own products. Run by a husband and wife couple, chef Randy Jones and wife Cindy Yu take pride in where the ingredients are sourced from. The price points are very reasonable considering the quality of food you are getting and you absolutely get what you pay for. The ideal time to go is in the summer where you can sit outside and enjoy the breath-taking view of the mountains. It is definitely worth going the extra mile.
