Week 17, Math 10 – Solving with Substitution and Elimination.

This week in Math 10 we learned how to solve systems using Substitution and Elimination.

A system is two or more equations that you work on all together to get the right answer. Substitution is when you isolate a variable of your choice for one of the equations, and then you insert the equation into the variable you isolated on the opposite equation. Elimination is when you make zero pairs with one of the equations then add what’s left together, and then isolate the remaining variable.

For any equation in a system Elimination or Substitution will work however it can become filled with fractions and confusing to read, that’s why knowing which equation is which and when to use them is vital when solving Systems.
