- Ex. 1; if/when you are applying for a job, the person who oversees the hiring of employees will look through the internet for your social image to see what kind of a person you are, and how responsible and clean your digital footprint is online.
Ex. 2; If a creepy person found your profile on Instagram, or Twitter or what have you, they may look up your name online like we did in class, and that’s extremely dangerous if you have a large social media image, and it might put you yourself in danger.
A: Strategy #1; Make your accounts private. If you have Instagram or Facebook where the private and public option is available, make it private.
Strategy #2; Whenever making an account, don’t use your real name, or real info when filling out your profile. This provides a much cleaner digital footprint online.
Strategy #3; If you can, don’t make any accounts on social media. The less of a trail you leave behind, the neater your online portfolio will be.
That no matter how accountable you may be online, you will always have a digital footprint online. It’s important to be responsible for what you create, and if you don’t take care of it, for certain it’ll come back to bite you.
