Week 15 in Pre-calc 11 – Rotation and Reference Angles

This week in pre-calc 11 we began our first lesson in the Trigonometry unit. I chose this topic because it’s the intro to trigonometry and I need to be able to explain what I’ve learned to move forward in the unit.

First, it’s important to recognize the 4 quadrants on a graph:

We also learned the importance of knowing our SOH CAH TOA rations

sin=\frac{y}{r}=\frac{O}{H}, cos=\frac{x}{r}=\frac{A}{H}, tan=\frac{y}{x}=\frac{O}{A}

  • Hint for sin ratio fraction “Seven Yellow Rabbits” S=sin, y=numenator value(Opposite), r=denominator value(hypotenuse).
  • Hint for the tan ratio fraction it’s the SLOPE (Rise over Run =y over x)
  • Trignomentry Equation: x^{2}+y^{2}=r^{2}
