1) put pattern into T- chart

2) find out how much pattern is increasing/ decreasing each time  (that number will be the X part of your equation)

3) find how much you have to add on or take of that number off to get to the first number on your chart (that will be the  N part of your equation)

put it all together and you have your equation.
