Student Reflection :

Give three reasons why you would like this job :

  1. I am a people person. Since this job requires someone who is very social, I think I would thrive at it. I enjoy communicating and dealing with all people, whether it be colleagues or customers.
  2. I am an quick learner when it comes to computers and technology. I extremely enjoy using technology in my life and I don’t think I would struggle immensely with new systems and programs shown to me.
  3. I would enjoy really enjoy the freedom of being the store’s administrator. You don’t have a strict schedule of everything you have to do that day and as long as you put in your hours and completed everything that needs to be done, you can choose what you want to do.

Give three reasons why you would not like this job :

  1. I don’t think I would enjoy sitting down all day at my computer. Although I do like technology, I feel like I would become very uncomfortable sitting, I would rather have a job where I am actively helping around.
  2. The repetitive checking and completing forms all day would not be a thing I would enjoy if I had this job. I think that I would become disinterested in seeing, checking and completing the same thing multiple times a day
  3. At her superstore, she was the go-to person to do almost everything. I believe that I would become very stressed and worried about having a lot of things on my plate while also trying to complete my daily tasks.

Is this job for you? Why or why not?

I don’t think that this job is for me because I don’t think I would like a job sitting at a desk for most of my day. Also, I have other interests when it comes to what I want to be when I’m older, something that either involves helping kids or adults or journalism and writing/reporting. Although, I really enjoyed seeing an inside look of her job, I don’t think that I will suit this job.

Explain the value of the TOKTW experience in relation to your ideas about your post secondary plans? (education, training, travel, work)

Part of her job calls for her to update the huddle boards (the info boards for all the superstore employees) She was posting a slideshow of everyone’s halloween costumes

I think that this experience was a wonderful opportunity to see and experience things that I’ve never seen before. Personally, as I said in the previous question, I don’t think that I would suit this job, therefore I think that this experience has pushed me to get good post secondary education and/or training so I have more choices on what I want to do and not only have this job or a similar one as an only choice.
