Science biome collaboration project

Partners : Kennedy, Maya and Nighina

As apart of out COL course, we did a collaborative project based on biomes with full detail about them on Sway.

In our project, we did one big presentation rather than multiple ones. If there are any questions or problems, feel free to comment and I will be sure to respond.

Reflection – As a group, we completed a fully detailed project featuring sway on biomes all over the world. We had a choice of our own biome. I took tundra, Kennedy took rain forest, Maya chose desert and Nighina chose Sahara. With now our own biomes, we fully researched them and recorded their characteristics and what they were.  We did on big project rather than individual ones for multiple reasons. First, we could easily edit each others work and can give feedback or suggestions of how to further develop it. Secondly, it was more collaborative which is what the project was about. When we finished, our work looked fantastic. Since we got to help each other, our biome reports looked even better. I would surely suggest collaborative assignments to anyone.

Science App Review

Problem : I have a hard time finding answers and definitions to many things that involve science when I am on the go or don’t have access to my laptop/computer. Sometimes I get the subject but I don’t get the answers or definitions, or I get the answers and definitions but it’s not clear.

Brainstorm solutions :

Typical

  • I can try to be more precise and accurate to what I want to search online
  • I can go to my science teacher and ask for help
  • I can go to my local library and see if there’s any books that involve what I’m looking for
  • I can start a blog or a comment asking and/or stating what I’m searching for

Creative

  • There can be community buildings or places that are education that teach or educate about various subjects such like science, math and more.
  • Every device can have educational pages and/or apps about common factors in the everyday life. That includes basics such as science and math.

App : Science Dictionary-Biology, Physics, & More

scince-dictionary

App description : This app is a complete dictionary based on science, filled with definitions, pronunciations and more. It nearly has everything to do with science including over 100,000 scientific terms and 35,000 audio pronunciations. Even if you’re not a person for reading, there are often helpful pictures to teach you in a different manner. It covers big topics like biology, physics and chemistry and as well as small ones such as cosmology. If you are a beginner for science or a returning master, there is always ways to improve and learn more.

Review : The app is a fantastic app from learning the basics to expanding your knowledge. The app is a helpful app based on science and everything to do with it, plus it’s free. It is filled with nearly every scientific component, method and meaning. It is very easy to search and maneuver thanks to the search bar. When found what you were looking for, the app clearly gives a meaning, definition and extra content to comprehend and learn what you searched. Some downsides are that like almost every app, it has adds, but it’s bot that big of a deal because it happens every 5 minutes or so. Another one is internet connection. The app can only run on internet.

Debrief : In this process of evaluating an educational app, we did a full coverage of all aspects of the app which included a review, description and solutions to the problem which the app fixed. I viewed the app and tested it both normally and to it’s limits to carefully provide a good review and description. Before choosing this app, I tried out various others apps to see which one was better. The majority of them were simply news articles and webpages about science. After about 20 minutes of searching I found this app. I was quite surprised on the state of the app and how easy it was to learn. In the end, the app in my opinion was a great choice and it really broadened my aspects of what there is to have educationally on your phone at such an easy way.
