Science 10 Research Project – Genetic Abnormalities

REFLECTION:
In this project I learned how to effectively research and find useful information. My group researched retinitis pigmentosa which to sum up is basically losing vision (blindness). I found interessting facts about disease and illness’ I would never have known otherwise. Many people don’t understand the importance of awareness of these abnormalities even though lots are common and they should.

Lights of life
June 2022
Milana Veljacic
These vases represent me and my energy as a person. I intentionally chose vibrant colours for my vases as they will be gifted and they will stand out. I used the wheel to make all four vases smooth and pretty looking, however I did add texture to the third one to differentiate between them. The last one unfortunetly exploded in the kiln but I luckily make three others that turned out. They will be gifted to the lovely women in my life as they are the lights in my life.

Paper Mache Award Final
June 2022, Paper Mache and glaze
Milana Veljacic
My athletic multitasking award stands for my busy day-to-day life jumping through sports and the confusing and stressful feeling that I sometimes get in back-to-back sports.
The girl is me as a dancer holding a pose. The stick in my hand is a field hockey stick for that sport, and a ball for soccer. I enjoy staying busy and having multiple sports does that for me. I play three sports which does not sound like much but when I’m doing school soccer during my regular season, field hockey outside of school at 9pm in the dark and dance as well as competitions and shows it feels like a lot.
The materials I used included, paper mache and acrylic paint, a wooden chopstick and a ceramic poetry base.

HCE 9 – English Assignment
My wings are heavy
I start to slow down, finding a place to rest
The feeling of eyes drift to me
Angry faces surround me
I turn to face them
What are they holding?
The bigger birds are scolding.
The words on those signs are revolting.
Can’t we all be treated with respect?
I think to myself.
These are the cards I was dealt with when I was put on this planet.
So why am I being judged for them?
Is it so difficult to see me as one of them?
That’s a question I can’t quite understand.
