This is my analysis of the song I chose

All of Lukas Graham’s songs tell a story about life but this paticular song “Happy Home” tells the story of how his dad was his idol and how he was inspired and became a famous artist.

Imagery & Figurative Language:

You can imagine so many things in Happy Home by: Lukas Graham this song talks about his fathers passing and Lukas talks about some things his dad has taught/did for him as a kid and you can imagine all the memories he had with his father as a child. This song is very descriptive for example “I only wanna put my heart and my life in songs, writing about the pain with my daddy gone, about the emptiness i felt when i sat alone. the words emptiness and alone give this song a sad and moody feeling so it makes the song sound like a life story.

Tone & Attitude:

The tone of this song is thoughtful and sympathetic because he is thoughtful and sympathetic about his dads past and the sound of the song is moody. This song is celebratory about his dads life and sympathetic of his life when his dad was still around.Like the stuff his dad did for him: “Did my granddaddy know he taught me what a poem was, how you can use a sentence or just a simple pause” and “My daddy used to play me vinyl but now daddy’s gone, I used to practice with my mommy on the piano”

Style:

The type of song is a narrative talking about his fathers passing and the impact he had on his life. There are 46 stanzas. The song lyrics have a rhyme in each stanza. the style of the song is every 2 lines has a meaning. Happy Home is a song looking back at all the good times he has had with his dad and mom like playing records and the piano with them and now the style is looking at the bad things like his life without his dad now. So the lyrics go from talking about the good times to the bad times.

Interpretation:

this song has a big interpretation. Lukas Graham is trying to reflect on his dads past he is also saying don’t believe in what others are saying about you and just trust in the people that love you. Lukas Graham is also referring to his dad as his idol and someone he had looked up to.”Why do we have our idols and why do we want to be them, after we see them on TV we really want to meet them, don’t they miss the time when they used to hang, before a fan base depended on a single man”. This quote is talking about when his dad use to be his idol and now Lukas has become a famous artist and he misses when he use to hang with his dad.
