My article: http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2015/05/06/gender-pay-gap-canada_n_7223508.html
In this article, the writer talks about how in Canada the minimum pay gap between men and women is about $4000 (men are earning more money than women.) According to the province of Ontario, women who are Aboriginal, minorities, new to Canada and who have disabilities get payed even less. This article involves men and women who earn a salary above minimum wage. I chose this article because I think that women being payed less for the same job as a man does is unfair. In this article, there is solid proof that it’s a true statement because of a diagram. The diagram shows that in 2010 women were being payed about $12000 less than men. This article realates to the short story we read in class-The Friday Everything Changed because in the story, the girls weren’t treated equally by not being able to take the water bucket to get water like the boys. They weren’t allowed to do so because they are girls. In the case of the article, girls and women aren’t being treated equally because they are not being payed the same as men are for the same job.
Nice work Megan. I like how you explain the article in detail and give information that supports your opinion.
