Clownfish and Sea Anemone

The clownfish scares off predators that may eat the Sea Anemone, while the Sea Anemone stings any of the Clownfish’s predators. Both organisms benefit in this relationship, making it a symbiotic relationship.

The poison dart frog has bright colours to warn predators that it is poisionous. This frog is more poisonous than any other poison frog species. The yellow is an example of warning colouration on an amphibian.

An animal demonstrating camouflage:

The angelfish has long fins and vertical stripes that break up it’s body outline, helping it to blend in with surround plants.

Biotic and Abiotic factors interacting in a habitat:

These fish use the rocks in this tank as a habitat and place to raise their young.

An endangered or threatened species:

The axolotl is a Mexican delicacy and is critically endangered for this reason as well as because of increased human population taking over and polluting it’s habitat.

The beluga has many adaptations which have, over many years, allowed it to better survive the harshness of the Arctic. These include changes in breathing and circulation to allow it to dive for longer periods of time (>10 mins), thick layers of fat accounting for almost half of it’s body weight that keep it warm in the cold water, and a forehead (‘melon’) that produces high pitched sounds to help it  navigate in the dark (echolocation).
