The book Out Of My Mind is one of my favourite books because it taught me to never judge someone in general but specifically based on appearance or their state of life. Not only did it teach me that lesson, but it also taught me to always be inclusive towards anyone and everyone and to try to put myself in someone else’s shoes to understand what they are going through. It taught me empathy and sympathy. This book is about a girl who has been confined to her wheelchair for her whole life and unable to speak and do anything by herself because of her condition, cerebral palsy. Despite all of that, she has a photographic memory and she can remember every detail of everything she has ever experienced. Everyone thinks she is dumb and incapable of doing anything school related until one day when she proves them wrong… Melody, the girl finds out about a wheelchair with a machine that can enable her to speak by typing words and having it speak what she wrote. After getting this machine, everyone can now know just how intelligent she is and she becomes part of the trivia competition team after receiving an astounding score on the entry test.
