Food Review : The great taste of Mexico

The great taste of Mexico

Café mexicano used to be my great, great aunt’s house, and it has the same environment and coziness as a restaurant.

The restaurant Originals Café Mexicano in Port moody is a small, warm restaurant that feels like home. From its home cooked, warm enchiladas to the flavourful Jaritos that are a reminder of childhood, this restaurant could not get better. The Burrito is well put together and very flavourful. It includes 1 large, flavourful tortilla filled with black beans, Spanish rice, cheese and any protein you’d like, personally I have only tried vegetarian which was splendid and full of flavour. To finish it all up, it’s topped with fresh pico de gallo, lettuce and a light white sauce called crema. Another good choice are the enchiladas, filled with delicious protein and covered in your choice of sauce out of the three; red, green or mixed sauces. The perfect part about these meals is that they are big enough to share with your partner or person you’re with. If not, there are several smaller appetizers to eat, for example; the simple yet very tasty dish are the chips and pico, this plain yet fun meal is perfectly proportioned for one person or two. Another good one is the Nachos Originals which include flavourful baked beans, cheese, crema, jalapeños and pico de gallo, a beautiful melody of Mexican flavours. Another great choice for 2 people on a budget. The surroundings of this quaint joint are all love, the Spanish words spoken by workers fill the room with heat and passion. The service is always great and servers are constantly in up-beat spirits and happy to serve you. When the food is served it’s warm and homey, it’s a taste of Mexico in the loveliest ways. You’re surrounded by beautiful paintings and wall hangings that inspire and are breathtaking, you won’t be able to keep your eyes off them. You end up having to choose between staring at your lovely, colourful dish of food or the bright, powerful paintings hanging around the room, it’s a tough decision. The price point of this food is perfectly appropriate for what you receive, the meals are filling yet light and wonderful while being considerately priced. Some may believe that the prices are a little high, but for the pure taste of Mexican heritage you receive out of this small, cozy restaurant, the prices are reasonable. In conclusion, this little intimate space is my favourite spot to eat out of all places, if that doesn’t say enough, if I had to pick one menu to eat for the rest of my life it would be Originals Café Mexicano’s menu. If you haven’t been to this café or have never eaten Mexican food before, I highly recommend this eatery.
