What I learned about Polynomials in Grade

 9Degree of a Polynomial:

The degree of a polynomial is the highest power in all of the numbers. So if one of the numbers has a power of 4 and another one has 1 and the last one has 6 then the degree of the polynomial is 6. It is like this for every time. Look what is the highest power and you have the degree of your polynomial

Types of polynomials:

A monomial is a polynomial that has only one term for example 5x is a monomial. A binomial is a polynomial that only has 2 terms. for example 5x+3 is a binomial. And a trinomial is a polynomial that has three terms. An example is 5x+3- 3x squared. So the degrees of a polynomial are how many different types of polynomials there are.Image result for types of polynomials

Terms: The term in polynomials are the actual numbers in the question. So 1,2,3 are all terms and a,g,b are not not terms. So look for the actual number when looking for termsImage result for polynomials what is a term

Negative and Positive polynomials: Negative polynomials and positives work very similar. They pretty much mean zero pairs. You cancel them out if they are there. The process is pretty much a subornation question. So -5x+3x= -2x. This is pretty much exponents. Do the subtraction or the addition.

Adding polynomials: Adding polynomials has simple steps: remove brackets bunch up like terms and then subtract or add.>

Subtracting polynomials: When you subtract polynomials you are essentially adding but with a twist. When there is a – sign before a bracket you have to flip the numbers in the bracket. After you’ve done that its easy. Just do what you did in addition..

Multiplying Polynomials: Multiplying polynomials has 2 different ways. Straight up multiplying or grouped up. The first one is where you multiply the two terms and just like exponents you add the powers. The next way is multiplying the numbers in a bracket. You multiply the number in front of the bracket by the numbers in the bracket. If there is an x in the number before the bracket then you add it to the numbers. Remember x.x= x2. So always keep that in mind.

Dividing Polynomials: Dividing Polynomials is quite simple. Divide then subtract. Divide the numbers then subtract the powers by each other just like in exponents. But remember when you are dividing then you have to keep x in mind x2 divided by x= x. Always know what you are doing with x’s.

Polynomials with algebra tiles: Each of the tiles have different meanings. There are three different types. All you have to do is all of the steps from all other operations. Just with tiles this time.Image result for polynomials with tiles
