Week 6-Math 10-Polynomials-Matej M

In week 6 of Math 10 I learned how to do questions that are two numbers in brackets with an exponent, preferably 2 outside of the bracket. Normally in exponents you would just multiply everything inside but since it has addition or subtraction inside the brackets you have you put out two copies and multiply like usual. You make two copies and you do the multiplication and you will get your answer. The most important thing to remember is to not multiply the numbers by the exponent or else you will get the wrong answer.

As you can see in the example if you use the exponent straight to the number, you get a bad number compared to if you make 2 copies where you get a nice number.

 

Math 10 week 5 Polynomials

This week in polynomials I learned how to determine the constant of an equation with polynomials. Before I used to struggle with finding the constant but now I have figured it out and it is so easy. Firstly the simple way to put it is that the constant is the greatest lone number, so it cant have any polynomial to it like 7xy it has to be a lone number like 5.  The easiest way to find it is to find all of the polynomials and find the constant with the simple number.

 

Math 10 – Week 4 – Trig – Matej

This week I will be focusing on how to find and angle of a right triangle with only 2 side lengths given. It is quite easy to do this process as it is pretty much the same as finding a side length but just using inverse functions, such as inverse sine, inverse cosine, and inverse tangent. The formula is to find the the side lengths and what angle you want to find and you just do the inverse function and then put the fraction. This method is an easy way to find an angle while only having the length of two sides, but remember to inverse the functions or else you will get an error. Also make sure you check the angle because if it is more than 90 degrees then you know that something is wrong and make sure you do it again. Using common sense is very important.

Week 3 – Math 10 – Trigonometry – Matej Mladenovic

The topic I will be focusing on this week is how to find a certain side length while only having the angle and one side length on a right triangle. So firstly we need to know the formula, Sine= opposite side/ hypotenuse, Cosine = adjacent/hypotenuse, and tangent= opposite/ adjacent. Now that we know that we can put it into words to make it easy to remember, SOH CAH TOA, so when you get a question you know what to use.

It is important to make sure that if the number you have is on the bottom you multiply it and if it’s on the top then you divide it.

Week 2 – Math 10 – Scientific notation

The most important thing I learned in week 2 of math 10 is scientific notation. This is a very interesting math topic because it also applies to science while many others don’t. Firstly scientific notation is just looking at a really small or really big number and turning it into an equation instead of reading the insanely long number.

The way to do it is if you have a really big number like 7,500,000,000,000 you wouldn’t use that number but you would move the decimal point till it gets to a nice number like 7.5. Once your at 7.5 you look at how many decimal places you moved to get to this number and you put it into an equation: 7.5 x 10^{12}

When you have a negative it is a different approach to it. For example if the number is 0.000,000,292 you bring the decimal spot backwards so it becomes negative. If the number you choose is 2.92 then you have to see how many spots the decimal moves back and put it into an equation. 2.92 x 10^7

This is just like multiplying and dividing exponent with adding the exponents if it is a multiplication question and Subtracting if it is a division question.

Week 1- Math 10- Finding the LCM

One thing I learned in math 10 is finding the LCM (lowest common multiple) which is just finding the first number two numbers meet at once multiplying. The way to find it is to first do a factor tree for both of the number to find out what prime numbers make up the number, then put the prime numbers from the first number in a line, then check off what prime numbers the other number has and for the ones that the first one didn’t have add that to the line and multiply. Multiply all of the factors on the line together and you have your lowest common multiple.

 

Its a pretty easy process to do with the only things you have to do is, to find the prime factors, then the numbers from the first number and check off which numbers you do have, and if a factor from the second number is not on there, then you add it to the line. The last step is to multiply and you will see your LCM.
