Staying Safe at Work

3 things I will do to stay safe at work:

1. Before I start to work I need to understand the risks and the outcome for what is happening. I have to know what to do in a emergency. I have to know the hazards an be able to work slowly and carefully.

2. While I am working and start to feel tired or sore I have to take regular breaks to prevent myself form getting injured. This is a very important one because you need to be able to know when your tired and sore so you don’t overdue something and you could severally hurt yourself or someone else.

3. Another important thing to notice is to make sure your sober while your working. This may feel like an easy one but many people get life threatening injuries’ because they were intoxicated or not sober.

3 things I will do to keep others safe at work

1. While I am working if I see others without the proper safety equipment I will remind them to wear the correct safety equipment.

2. If you are working and you see someone who needs assistance you need to take over and talk about the concerns they had with the machine. If you don’t talk about the concerns then someone else comes to work at the same machine they wont know that its running properly.

3. If you are a Manager or a boss at your compony you need to make sure that there is as little stress as possible for the workers. This one is huge and very important to understand. Many Managers and bosses don’t ever think about the risk from putting too much on the workers.

The workplace accident that stuck with me the most was the girl who lost 3 fingers. I remember this sad story because it was the most interesting to me and it stuck with me the most because it could’ve been easily preventable. This story was very sad and frustrating for the girl because the way she lost them is something you don’t think about. She lost her 3 fingers by putting her fingers in where she was making the dough and and they got stuck and ripped them off. In the movie there was a lot of blood which I don’t like. When I was watching it, it made me sad because for the rest of her life she would only have 2 fingers on her right hand. She said that for as long as she could she tried to hide her hand because she didn’t want people to make fun of her. After doing this assignment and watching these sad stories it makes me think how careful I need to be when I am working. If I don’t feel good one day or if I am tired I need to take the day off because I need the best safety for my Co Workers and myself. I need to double check that what I am doing is right and don’t take any risks and ask questions if you need it.

Self-Reflection

Describe how the artifact you selected shows your strengths & growth in specific core competencies. The prompt questions on the left – or other self-assessment activities you may have done – may guide your reflection process.

I can explain my learning style as a listening style. I prefer to listen than to read or write. I am glad I know my learning style now so I can find an easier way to study. My learning style likes to hear things like in videos. For example, if I have a science test a good tool for me to use is Bill Nye the Science Guy. I understand videos and seeing things better then reading or writing things. Some of the ways I study are to make que cards or to watch a video. I feel like both are good tools to have and I recommend people to try it. I understand now that my top multiple intelligence is body movement. I was not surprised about this because I love to move around and get exercise. Sometimes it is hard for me to stay in one spot. When I do schoolwork sometimes, I like to get up after a while and move around.

I can identify and describe my own characteristics. My main characteristics are Active, supportive, energetic, helpful, and funny. These characteristics are important to me because it helps me meet new people and make new friends. All my friends have most of the traits. We are very similar and that is why were very close. Some of my weaknesses are I sometimes do not put enough effort in my work so this year I am trying to put as much work as I can.

Markus Goals

Personal Goal: My goal is to get 25 points in my hockey season this year This goal is important to me because I want to go somewhere in hockey after high school.

By the end of the Hockey season I want to have 25 points. I plan to work hard in all of my practices and games and practice at home too. I will go out of my way to work on stuff and lift weights at my house and if my friends ask me to hangout I will have to either shoot puck, stick handle or lift weights before is see them. I will ask my parents or coaches what I need to work on. If I do something wrong in practice or if I don’t get a drill I will ask my coach what I can do better.

Academic Goal: My goal is to get A and b on my report card this year. This goal is important to me because I care about my grades and if I don’t get good grades it could affect my future.

By the end of the school year I am hoping I will have only A and B on my report card. I plan to have a great work ethic and get all of my work in on time and its done to the best of my ability. I will make my school my number one priority and I can’t see friends or go to sports unless I get my work done. I will ask the teacher if I don’t get something and if she could help me out.

Foods 10 Competency Reflection

For my Foods 10 Competency Reflection I decided to reflect on my Poached Egg dish that I cooked at school. The reason why I chose this to reflect on this dish is because I am proud of my end result. It tasted delicious and I got a good mark on it. I wasn’t very confident when I started to make this dish, but as time went on I got more and more confidence which helped me out a lot. Before that day I never have made a Poached Egg before. At various points during the lab I was stuck on what to do next so I had to use my creative thinking skills to overcome my problems to complete this dish. Before I went up to cook I would ask myself questions about how to cook the dish so I would remember what to do next. I had to analyze the steps before I went up so I would feel more confident with the dish I was cooking. I was extremely proud of my end result. I got full marks which made me also very proud of myself. I have really enjoyed Foods 10 this year. I feel way more confident in the kitchen now. I am looking forward to taking more Foods classes in my 4 years of high school. This has been a fantastic semester.

Shakespeare Graphic Novel

The following is a graphic novel that I have created on Pixton which shows my knowledge and understanding of A Mid Summer Nights Dream. I hope you enjoy watching it! This was a very confusing and faced past play at times. Once I got into the play I stared to understand it. I cant wait to read another one of Shakespeare plays.
