With creating my portrait it was mostly trail and error with editing the equations that I currently know and trying to have them end and curve to certain points. I had some problems with figuring out how to place the eyebrows in the right position over the eyes and having them at the right length. Other than that it was mostly easy to set up with a view minor problems later on.
