In today’s class we did a lab involving blowing bubbles with gum and collecting the data. We measured the bubble then later stretched it out and measured the length.
Conclusion:
What brand of gum is the best at blowing bubbles and why?
The Hubba Bubba gum (gum A) is the best at blowing bubbles. The bubbles were bigger, stronger and big bubbles occurred more often than the Big Time League gum (gum B). The Hubba Bubba gum’s average bubble had the circumference of 21.23 cm while the Big Time League gum’s average bubble circumference was only 15.33 cm. This is because the Hubba Bubba gum is more dense and less likely to pop or rip. On the other hand Big Time League gum could stretch further because it is thinner and not as strong, meaning it doesn’t have as much resistance. When we stretched and measured the length that the different gum brands could stretch, Big Time League gum stretched only a little further. Other groups had gotten the gum to stretch across the room. Our group’s Big Time League gum just happened to break sooner than the others, maybe depending on the way we stretched it or how fast we stretched it. Hubba Bubba gum stretched 25 cm and Big Time league gum stretched 29cm. After our experiment, our hypothesis was supported as Hubba Bubba gum blew bigger bubbles than the Big Time League gum.
