Pip
The journey began at Canine University
Where a puppy’s dreams came true
Pip just wanted to be a little doggie who helps others see
But he wasn’t tall enough to be part of the crew
Pip stood underneath the measuring beam
He lifted himself up on all four feet and extended an ear
The instructor gave a sigh and gestured to the door
Pip was on his way to be a seer
He first started off with some simple tasks
But he couldn’t even lift his paw
Or stop the kibble from overflowing his bowl
How could he guide at all?
The journey began at Canine University
Where a puppy’s dreams came true
Pip just wanted to be a little doggie to help others see
But he wasn’t tall enough to be part of the crew
With heavy shoulders, he walked to the entrance
He was finally done giving it all
Pip’s eye was caught by the displayed past accomplishments
And he saw Ace on the wall
Ace was a pup, just like Pip
He, too, was vertically challenged
And even with such disadvantage
Ace still managed
With this in mind, he adapted to his struggles
This was something he could get through
He now could raise his paw and walk without flaw
If Ace could do it, then he could too
The journey began at Canine University
Where a puppy’s dreams came true
Pip just wanted to be a little doggie to help others see
But he wasn’t tall enough to be part of the crew
The time finally came
Where Pip’s skills were put to the test
In order to be a guide dog
He knew he had to try his best
First in line, was little Pip
And the exam started off well
But with a small stumble
His chances of being a guide dog fell
The journey began at Canine University
Where a puppy’s dreams came true
Pip just wanted to be a little doggie to help others see
But he wasn’t tall enough to be part of the crew
Without hesitation,
He was kicked out of the academy
Pip’s dreams got shattered
This was a great tragedy
As he trudged out of the doors
He spotted a lady in danger
Pip hurried to assist the woman
This was going to be a game changer
He slipped his head through her purse
Pip slowly guided her out of the way
Her pets and praises show her gratitude
Pip’s skills were on display
Everyone saw Pip’s good deed
And they were proud of his act of compassion
Of course, this didn’t go to waste
They all gave positive reactions
Pip’s teacher and examiner turned to Ace’s statue
And took off the blue cape of its back
They draped it around Pip’s shoulders
Now he was part of the pack
The journey ended at Canine University
And a puppy’s dreams came true
Pip became a little doggie who helps others see
He was just enough to be part of the crew [together]
