Why George Orwell wrote the novel “1984”

Orwell authored the famous novel 1984 because he was frightened of the future and wanted to warn humans of what could happen in the future and in this case, by the year 1984. Orwell saw the dictatorship that was occurring while fighting in WWII and was convinced that the future would be dark if this continued. Orwell was a Socialist and wrote this novel as a political criticism against Joseph Stalin and Adolf Hitler. The main character, Winston Smith realizes the pain in his society and is fighting against it and trying to rebel.
