Define/Discover:

While doing this project, I learned that the idea behind the Sea Wall is solid, but it has not been developed to the extent to which is could be. I picked the Sea Wall as my project because I realized that, with some modifications, it could be very good for the environment. I also learned that the world’s water levels are rising not only because the ice caps are melting, but also because the increased national temperature makes the water atoms expand. In effect, there is actually more water.

Dream:

My completed project actually shows my original idea very well. I added a lot of detail. For example, I hand-selected specific blocks for every single wall in the castle. I added houses to the build even when I didn’t think I would need to. If you notice, even the bottom of the water flowing over the Sea Wall has detail built into it. Overall, I did my absolute best to make my project look exceptional.

Debrief:

Welcome to my debrief, where I will tell you how I did on this assignment. I am not happy with my recording because it was “bugging” and my audio cut out a lot. However, to make my wording in the recording good I redid it at least 20 times. I put a lot of effort into the details of my build and I’m very proud of it, even though it is a simple build. This was one of the most fun and engaging projects I have worked on. Overall, I think we should do more projects like this one because I saw how engaged everyone was when they were doing their work. I think because everyone loved doing this project, you will see some superior projects. We loved the project, and you are going to love some of these results.

Core Competencies self assessment

Hello! This is my Core Competencies Self assessment, I would like to start by saying I have chosen Critical thinking for reasons I will explain.

 

I can use Critical Thinking to gather information and use it on projects. For example, when we were assigned the Sway project where we had to explain an element on the periodic table I used Critical Thinking to gather info and understand what exactly to do! I would also use Critical Thinking when reflecting on my Sway project. If I understood correctly Critical thinking is gathering/applying/evaluating Information.

I also used this skill when learning how to draw Bohr diagrams. A Bohr diagram is pretty much the build of a specific atom on paper. At first, I really didn’t understand but after looking at other people’s diagrams and taking clues out of the teacher’s language I quickly learned how to create one. Even though I could have asked I opted to figure it out myself and start from seemingly, the ground up.

Overall critical thinking is a valuable skill that I have been learning.

 

Building Molecules Pictures!

In science today we were tasked to create some molecules using a cool build kits.

The build above is Propane Gas. It has Carbon and Hydrogen in it. the formula is C3H8 

This is Laughing gas! Inside it contains Nitrogen and Oxygen. N2O

This is Methanol. It has Carbon, Oxygen and Hydrogen. The formula is kind of crazy, CH3OH.

  1. What questions did you need to research in order to create your sway?
  • I wrote down questions like “who discovered Radium” and “When was Radium discovered”. another search was “who named Radium”

2. What new or familiar digital tools did you use as your work through this project?

  • I used Creative Commons to help me with some of the pictures.

3. What was the process you used to investigate this topic?

  • The first thing I did was read through some of the Radium articles on the Britannica.com site, then I will just read through the questions and answer them on the Sway. I order them accordingly after all the questions are answered.

4. How did I verify and site the information I found.

  • I would use sites like Britannica because they are more than trustworthy but if I wasn’t I was checking multiple sites before use. That in fact only happened once and that is why there are only two sites, I mainly used Britannica for my sites.

5. How did the process of completing this challenge go? What could you have done better?

  • I answered this first question in question #3. The thing I think I should have done better was read through more articles and go through more sources rather than just Britannica.
